While the first few months can be overwhelming in just adjusting to being pregnant, by midway through your pregnancy, you're probably ready to start preparing for your newborn's arrival.
Prepare the Nursery
Do you have everything set up so that when you return home, your baby has a place to sleep and be changed? Diapers, blankets, clothes, wipes and so on should all be stocked and ready for your new arrival.
In addition, when it comes to your nursery, you want to make sure all safety measures are taken. This is an area where you don't necessarily want to listen to advice from moms and grandmas–guidelines change often and what was OK back then may not be now.
Therefore, do your research and talk to professionals on best practices to keep your newborn safe and sound.
Stock Up on Baby Gear
If you're becoming a parent for the first time, you may feel overwhelmed by all the items on the "baby" list. Don't be!
Take some time to think through what your little one will actually need when it comes to sleeping, eating, traveling and so on. Ask other new moms what they recommend–what has actually worked for their child?
Hand–me–downs, including clothing and bedding, are OK to use in some cases. But in other areas, you'll want to proceed with caution.
If you decide to purchase a used car seat, make sure it is still well within the car seat date. Most car seats expire six years after the car seat was manufactured.
It's also important to verify that the car seat has not been in a vehicle when an accident occurred or been damaged in any way.
